Locating your smartphone after it has been stolen

Sulaiman, a staff member at buycomputers.co.za , was pick-pocketed at the V&A Waterfront on Friday past and managed to recover his smartphone an hour later after the simcard had been changed all because he had SmartGuard activated on his phone.

Here is what he had to say:
“I installed SmrtGuard on to my Sony Ericsson Experia X10 a while back not thinking I would need it one day but I was wrong. Well this weekend I did. While shopping at the V&A Waterfront I realised that I had been  pick-pocketed. I ran to Cell-u-City, where I had bought my phone, and asked if I could use there internet to logon to the SmrtGuard website. Once, logged in to the dashboard I could see that my phone was still in the  vicinity and that a new simcard had been inserted. After SmrtGuard had revealed the new phone number I made a phone call to it. To my great relief I heard my ringtone nearby and called for security to apprehend the thief. Needless to say I got my phone back and saved myself a lot of time, hassle, frustration and money. All because I had installed the free SmrtGuard application on my Android phone. "

The SmrtGuard application currently works on the Android and Blackberry phones, iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch running iOS3 or iOS4 and Nokia beta versions are available. The PRO paid for version allows you Wipe your phone remotely, migrate and restore data wirelessly, Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam software installed.

Buycomputers.co.za will install and setup this software for your compatible devices should you require.
