Beware of Malware

If your computer is acting strange, giving you error messages, or randomly feezing/rebooting, then there are a few things you should do before anything else. If the problem has clearly started after you installed new software or hardware, remove it. Next you should update your anti-virus and anti-spyware programs and run full scans of your computer.Every PC connected to the Internet should be running anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall utilities that are kept up-to-date.

Why Does Your PC Slow Down?

As your computer ages, it can begin to slow down and even start crashing. There are many factors that can contribute to this. Your Windows registry may be corrupt, your system may have too much junk files, your hard drive may be full, or maybe your PC just requires more RAM. Your case may be filled with dust, and your fans aren't performing as they should be be. This can slow down your processor and the rest of your PC. Your PC problems could be related to just about anything, improving the performance can be an easy job even for novice computer users.

If you are getting errors or your system is crashing, it is likely to be a problem in your registry. The registry can become corrupted very easily without you even knowing about it. You can download CCleaner (Download) . Then once you have installed and opened it, on the left hand side of the application, select Registry and the click on Scan for Issues. It will then generate a list of problems that are in your registry, when it is complete, click on Fix Selected Issues. Once this is complete, your registry will be clean!

Picking a Strong Password

In todays world, using passwords has become an everyday occurrence for most people. You username and password is sometimes the only line of defence between outsiders and your personal information. Choosing a strong password is essential to prevent hackers from breaking your password and gaining your information. Many people choose simple passwords that are easy to remember, so that they never forget. Passwords such as birthdays, anniversaries, nicknames, pets names are most commonly used. These are the easiest passwords to crack. To create a stronger password try adding capital letters, numbers and special characters to your password. Also don't use the same password for all of the places you login to. That way if a hacker is able to discover your password, they wont be able to access multiple areas with it.

Stay Connected With Your Family Online

It's so easy to connect with your family over the internet. You shouldn't limit your communication with only e-mail. You can make your own family network, organise family lunches and hear all the latest news from your family over the internet. Many families keep in contact through the popular networking site, Facebook. Unfortunately it doesn't offer much privacy for family affairs. You can create a private site, like facebook, post photos, leave messages etc. And you can make this completely private, preventing unwanted people reading up on your family business. There are numerous sites that will help you create a family network, one of the most popular is MyFamily.com. The free service is for creating family networks. A paid version removes ads and provides more storage. Best of all your site you create will be private, only users you invite may join.
You can also create a networking with Ning.com. Ning isn't limited to families, anyone can create a network. But you can make this network private, invite only. Plan get-togethers Your family does not live online. Plan family get-togethers, or maybe your just want to plan a christmas celebration. MyPunchBowl.com is a great website used for planning get-togethers. You can make invitations, and then manage the RSVPs. AirSet.com is a good website that has a bit of everything in it. Calendars that can help you keep track of important dates, share photos and videos. It's useful to keep reminders, or use it to plan a family reunion. When signing up with AirSet you have choices of what your network will be used for - Business, Family, School or Community. Your data will be completely private. This is free, although there is a paid version which provides you with additional storage. Make sure you select the Family option, otherwise you will be overwhelmed with options.
